As a wrap-up to one the original blockbuster trilogies, Return of the Jedi is pretty satisfying. As a movie, though? It’s… uneven. But hey, Ewoks are cute and awesome, and doesn’t that count for something? Welcome to Trekabout Presents Return of the Jedi.

-Sure, why not? Maybe their atmosphere is a lot lighter than ours. Or something.

-Although I saw the first two when they came out, Jedi is the first I have memories of from the theater. And to this day I remember loving the way the Emperor sets up his trap for Luke — either kill me and embrace the Dark Side or don’t and I will kill you. At the time that seemed so exciting to me, and so sophisticated a piece of storytelling — Palpatine enjoyed power and the opportunities for inflicting misery it brings, sure, but he honestly is a true servant of the Force. And if his death would make the Dark Side greater, he doesn’t complain. Hell, he’s downright *giddy* about the idea.
