Whether you like Lwaxana Troi or not, she’s been a recurring character in Star Trek for many years, and deserves a better send-off than “The Muse” gives her. Later, in “For the Cause”, another recurring character gets a very unexpected send-off.

-Majel Roddenberry went on to be quite critical of Deep Space Nine in its later years. She felt it strayed too far from Gene Roddenberrys vision. We havent gotten to that point yet in the series but I guess that is why she didnt come back for any more episodes. Shame. We have seen her through the run of TNG and half of DS9 but it feels her story is half told.
Interesting you mentioned Babylon 5 actors appearing in an episode with Majel Roddenberry. Star Trek had earlier in the year picked up one of the more important recurring guest actors in Babylon 5, Robert Foxworth, for more money to play the role of Admiral Leighton in HomeFront and Paradise Lost (basically playing the same character). It made him unavailable for Babylon 5 and they were forced to kill off the character offscreen. This incident was part of some bad blood on casting between B5 and Star Trek. Eventually peace was called between the 2 shows and Majel Roddenberry, the grand dame of Star Trek herself, went over to guest on a Babylon 5 episode. So to see Patricia Tallman, a series regular from Babylon 5, guesting in this episode is nice to see.
Incidently the actor Andreas Katsulas who playedGKar in Babylon 5 auditioned for the role of Odo. How weird would that have been if we got him as Odo and Rene Auberjonois as GKar.
Loved the episode.

-Oh interesting! I had never heard that. That makes sense, although it’s really a shame that we never got a send-off for Lwaxana.
