-Voyager should have given up on the premise of getting home formally by perfecting slipstream technology. The writers had already given up on the premise of the show in every other way.
They could have done it in a way that would make Voyager the only ship able to do it if they don’t want to break canon too much. (Visitors from the 29th century again, maybe?)
Then they could have made the TNG-lite show they wanted without all the inconsistencies in logic that arise from the premise. Voyager could have been able to hop from alpha to delta quadrant at will and they could still get hit with a quantum pulse from a cosmic ripple and knock the slipstream drive offline whenever they wanted.

-I think this is fair. I’ve been a defender of Voyager but the deeper we get into it, the more the cracks in the foundation appear.
