-I haven’t watched too many Voyager episodes—my preference is the original series—but I found this one to be a very good suspense thriller, centering as it did on the trials and tribulations of Seven of Nine as she grappled with a whole host of invading entities tat threatened to destroy her. The doctor, whom II just can’t stand because he’s such a Professeur Je-Sais-Tout who talks too much, was helpless in this situation and was forced to step back and let the Vulcan Tuvok take a crack at it—and Tuvok came through with a real lifesaver, a powerful and dramatic Vulcan mind-fusion that saved Seven’s sanity—and her life. An interesting note: Tuvok had stated that he would need two hours to prepare, and he knew what he was talking about because it was going to be a very rough ride; the mind-fusion is the most stressful of all the varieties of mind-meld! It was indeed a very rough ride, but he forced his way through the morass to join with Seven’s mind and help her repel the invaders. He accomplished the mission, and Seven was herself again after a week in the regeneration chamber. And I got still another demonstration of what the Vulcans call “wuh tepul t’wuh kashek”—the power of the mind and what it could be capable of. Good story all around.
