-A correction on something that Eric says – while the writers may not have been influenced by The Magnificent Seven, the film still had an impact on the episode. Both Armin Shimerman and Max Grodénchik are reported to have watched the film in preparation for the episode.

-Also, it is not BS that long term predictions are harder than short term predictions. Long-term climate forecasts are more correct than short-term weather forecasts. When something is observed over a longer timescale and a larger population, anomalous events and individuals are just noise in the data and don’t impact the trends. If Franz Ferdinand had not been shot, some other incident would have kicked off World War 1. However, the trends are not always so obvious and the genetically enhanced folks could accurately pick out trends with mathematical precision. The problem with the episode is that it forgot its own title. Their predictions should have had percentages; but then the tension in the episode would not have existed had they done that because no prediction is 100% reliable.
