It’s been a while since poor Chief O’Brien has had some unspeakable existential horror inflicted upon him, so here’s “Visionary” to throw him out of time and kill him. Then, in “Distant Voices”, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine inflicts unspeakable existential horror on us, the viewing audience. Also! Bashir played tennis. Who knew?
The Pensky File-
I laugh at the fact that the time jumps in “Visionary” just keep getting worse and worse (“You’re not going to believe this Miles, but…) but the concept of O’Brien dying and being replaced by some sort of future O’Brien is awesome and the episode leaves it unsatisfying unexplored.
The acting in “Distant Voices” is sometimes so bad it’s distracting. You guys have discussed Farrell’s lack of acting chops, but I only really notice it when she has to play angry/yelling/upset. She plays aloof and “above it all” very well but really cannot handle scenes where she has to yell a bit.
Poor O’Brien. The worst is yet to come.
