Take heart, Treakaboutians: TNG is firing on all cylinders this week. First up, “Yesterday’s Enterprise”, which juggles about 17 different things without dropping a one, and manages to redeem the death of Tasha Yar. Then, in “The Offspring”, Data creates an android daughter, and learns to love.

-Nice to hear the love for Yesterday’s Enterprise. I was worried you had impossibly high standards (judging the show somewhat by 21st century standards) based among other things on your review of The Enemy, which I really like, and has a great Worf-Picard scene that echoes down the series.Anyhow, one of the many great things packed in to Yesterdays Enterprise (very efficiently, as discussed) was the character of Captain Garret. Great guest performance.
You also spend a long time speculating about the unseen dynamics of Starfleet careers. But it’s fun, love the shown. K thnx bye!

-Yeah, I think one of the interesting things about doing the podcast is to see which episodes Richard and I agree and disagree on. The nice thing is, for all the “classic” episodes, I think Richard has really liked them all, aside from maybe “Balance of Terror”. I like “The Enemy” but I think it’s a lesser episode, although there are scenes that are really good, like the Worf/Picard scene you mentioned.

-It’s certainly true that the podcast illisttrates flaws that were not apparent to my teenage self, like how rubbish Geordi’s character is. Although his McGyvering I’m this episode is cool, and something we could have done with seeing more of throughout the series.
